Resize government job photos without uploading them

Government recruitment portals can reject a photograph or signature when the file type, KB range, pixel dimensions, background, capture method or image quality does not match the current notice. The Govt Job Photo Resizer is designed to help you prepare a JPG locally in your browser, with presets for common requirements and custom controls for notices that use different values.

There is no single photo size that works for every SSC, UPSC, banking, railway, state or Bangladesh recruitment form. Always treat a preset as a starting point and compare the final JPG with the latest instructions on the official application portal before you upload it.

What the presets are based on

The preset values in this tool are based on common or officially published examples. Current SSC notices may capture the candidate photo live and ask for a scanned signature in JPEG format at 10–20 KB, about 6.0 × 2.0 cm. UPSC Recruitment Branch guidance uses a 110 × 140 pixel photograph up to 40 KB in JPG. IBPS-style photograph guidance commonly uses 200 × 230 pixels and 20–50 KB. Recent Railway Recruitment Board notices specify JPG/JPEG signatures between 30 KB and 49 KB with a minimum size of 140 × 60 pixels, while the candidate photo may be captured live in the application.

For Bangladesh Teletalk recruitment systems, official validators commonly require a JPG colour photo at 300 × 300 pixels and 4–100 KB, and a JPG signature at 300 × 80 pixels and 3–60 KB. A particular recruitment notice can still set additional conditions, so the official notice always takes priority over this tool.

How target-size compression works

The tool renders the selected image to the chosen pixel dimensions with HTML5 Canvas and tests multiple JPEG quality levels. A binary-search routine compares the encoded byte size with your target and keeps the closest useful result. You can use either a closest-to-target rule or a maximum-size rule when the application portal says the file must not exceed a stated KB limit.

For the calculation, 1 KB is treated as 1,024 bytes. JPEG encoders work with discrete quality steps and browsers can produce slightly different byte sizes, so an exact whole-number KB result cannot be guaranteed in every case. The result card shows the actual output size and pixel dimensions so you can verify the file before downloading it.

Step-by-step application workflow

  1. Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP source image. The editing panel appears after the file is loaded.
  2. Select the photo or signature type and choose the preset that most closely matches your current official notice.
  3. Set the target KB. Use Advanced controls when the notice gives exact custom width and height values.
  4. Use Crop to fill when the target frame must be completely filled without stretching, or Fit inside when you need to preserve the whole source image on a white background.
  5. Select Resize to Target and compare the displayed output KB and pixel dimensions with the official requirement.
  6. Download the JPG only when the displayed result matches the file type, size and dimensions required by the application portal.

Important photo, signature and privacy checks

If an application requires a live camera photo, do not use a resized copy of an older photograph in place of that live capture. For scanned signatures, use the ink colour, background, handwriting style and scan quality stated in the notice. The tool changes size and dimensions; it cannot decide whether a face, background, signature style or document content will be accepted by the recruiting authority.

PNG and WebP files can be used as source images, but this tool downloads the processed result as JPG. If a notice specifically asks for PNG, PDF or another format, follow that notice and use the required format instead.

Image processing in this tool is client-side: the selected image is decoded, resized and compressed by browser APIs on your device. The tool code does not upload the selected image to AllFast.in. Refreshing or closing the page clears the working image state, while the downloaded JPG remains on your device.

Frequently asked questions

1. Will the output always be exactly 20 KB, 35 KB or 50 KB?

No exact whole-number size can be guaranteed in every browser. The closest-target mode aims for the selected value, while “Do not exceed target KB” is better when the official portal gives only a maximum file size. Always check the actual KB shown on the result card.

2. Does AllFast upload my government-job photo or signature?

The resizer processes the selected image locally with browser APIs and Canvas. The tool code does not send the selected image file to AllFast.in; you choose where to upload the downloaded JPG afterward.

3. Why does a PNG or WebP input download as JPG?

The resizer encodes its output as JPG because JPG/JPEG is required by many of the recruitment examples covered by these presets. If your current official notice requires PNG, PDF or another format, do not use the JPG output for that requirement.

4. Can I use the SSC preset for my photograph?

The SSC quick preset in this tool is for the scanned signature, not for replacing a live photo. Current SSC notices may require the candidate photograph to be captured live in the application module and the scanned signature to be JPEG at 10–20 KB. Verify the notice for your specific examination.

5. What does the UPSC preset cover?

It follows UPSC Recruitment Branch guidance for a 110 × 140 pixel photograph up to 40 KB in JPG. UPSC application systems and notices can differ, so use Custom when your current application gives different dimensions or limits.

6. What does the Banking / IBPS preset cover?

It uses the common IBPS photograph specification of 200 × 230 pixels (preferred) and 20–50 KB. Other banking recruitment notices may use different requirements, so compare the preset with the current official instructions before submitting.

7. What does the Railway preset cover?

The Railway quick preset is for a scanned signature: JPG/JPEG, 30–49 KB and at least 140 × 60 pixels in recent RRB notices. Some current RRB applications capture the candidate photograph live, so do not assume the signature preset also applies to the photo.

8. Can I make Bangladesh Teletalk photo and signature files?

Yes. The Teletalk photo preset uses JPG, 300 × 300 pixels and a 4–100 KB range. The Teletalk signature preset uses JPG, 300 × 80 pixels and a 3–60 KB range. Check the specific recruitment portal because an organization can add further instructions.

9. Will Crop to fill or Fit inside stretch my image?

No. Both modes preserve the source proportions. Crop to fill may trim outer edges to fill the target frame, while Fit inside preserves the complete source and may add white space when the aspect ratios differ.

10. Should I trust a preset instead of the latest official notification?

No. Presets are convenience settings, not official approval. Recruitment authorities can change file size, dimensions, format, background, capture method or image-content rules. The current official notice and application portal always take priority.
